I have had a long journey in Mental Health but am now in Recovery and Public Speak about "A journey in Mental Health with Textiles as a Companion"
My talk encompasses how having and doing a creative subject like Quilting can foster a very real feeling of well being. Although I am not an award winning quilter as such, I regularly enter the big shows and am very much still learning this fascinating subject. Amongst my finished textiles, I have three quilts which show my journey from the depths of depression to leading now a happy and content life.
My talks are said to be inspirational and I seek to show that wherever we are on life's journey we all have something powerful to say and I hope to share and bring a really positive view of how we can use textiles to keep us well and still learning our craft in spite of life's ups and downs
For Quilting work I like to feel that I sit on the junction of quilting and embroidery and have a particular love of free machine embroidery. My Flamingo quilt shown here won a judges merit at Sandown and is extensively machine embroidered and quilted
